    I am in the process of swapping a 93 from an auto to NV4500. How do you feel about the adapter going from 29 spline to 23 at the transfer case? Do you feel that it can manage the hp and torque you plan to hit? Or do you plan to convert the T Case to a 29 Spline as well? I'm at a cross roads on the best path forward.

    Thanks for the videos. After watching this one and your "Top 5 things to look for when buying a first gen" video, I can tell I will be watching more of videos. Question about the rear axle seal... How do you know when it's time to replace the bearings? Also, do you not need to put any gear lube in the hub when you replace the seals and/or bearings? Thanks for any tips you can offer.

    • @decentgarage
      @decentgarage 7 дней назад

      For the bearings I go by two things. If I clean the grease off and there is coloration from over heating I'll replace. I also check the races for scoring. The rear axle is lubricated by axle gear oil so no need to grease. 👍

      @@decentgarage thank you very much for the rapid response! One more question, and I'll see if I can figure out how to post a picture to help with this. For the inside seal on the hub, drum brakes, does the large seal coming in from the back of the hub sit flush with the hub, or go past flush until it contacts the bearing?

    Hey, I need some help if you don't mind... I'm thinking of buying either an XR250R or XR400R for a daily and for bullshittery off road, they're the same price, same generation, plus the older xr250r's for just a touch cheaper. Btw, new rider here, not concerned about the bike having a bit too much power, I'm not too trigger happy, or in this case, twist happy. Just want something very nimble, fun and that doesn't lack power, I want it to feel peppy. It is going to see a bunch of pavement too, as a daily.

    Hey Tim, know this video is a year old now but I am trying to educate myself for a crew cab build in my near future. Did you end up using the chassis harness from that 89 cummins parts truck? I saw that you had to extend the harness for the cab lights, just curious how everything else worked out. Did you have to extend for the tail lights or any other items? The engine and cab harness seems easy enough, pretty much plug and play. Thank you sir!

    Again, be very careful and due research on how changing the stock tire and rim size can affect a vehicle. A wider rim and tire will change the leverage on the steering gear box, frame and steering linkage. All can fail sooner due to the added stress. Taller tire diameter will change leverage and overall gearing causing reduced braking performance, reduced towing capacity and reduced fuel milage from incorrect engine RPM. Factory engineers design vehicles taking into consideration many factors. There are very good reason's they pick a certain size rim and tire. Same engineering also goes into the height of the vehicle. Adding lifts to the suspension should also be done with caution and an understanding of what unwanted consequences may arise. Aftermarket companies are in business to make $$$$. Often customers are not aware of potential problems that can and will occur. LOVE this channel and you do really good work on these trucks!

  • @wesscarey4475

    This channel is the BEST! Be careful increasing tire size on these trucks. The larger size increases the leverage on the brakes making stopping more difficult. Also, this changes the overall gearing causing reduced power and fuel milage. The steering gear box and frame also can fail sooner. Best performance and reliability will be from the correct factory size on the door.

    • @silverstonehtpc6889
      @silverstonehtpc6889 13 дней назад

      There are measures a guy can take to beef up everything else, such as crossover steering (which I think Tim did here), a steering box brace, hydroboost brake conversion, and brass kingpin bushings or a spring eliminator kit. With the stock setup, the best reliability will obviously come from the stock tire size. But that's not necessarily the best performance, as that is subjective and will change depending on the owner's intended use and desire.
